Day - 3: -
Sagmosavank Monastery-Alphabet Park-Mt Aragats
Breakfast served at hotel.
In 2005, the Armenian alphabet celebrated its 1600th birthday. In commemoration, it was given a gift of  39 giant, carved Armenian letters, strategically placed near the final resting place of the man who created the alphabet, Mesrop Mashtots. When Mashtots began working on an Armenian alphabet, it was under great pressure so that it could be used to create a bible for the newly Christian kingdom. Elegantly planned, Mashtots laid out the structure of the alphabet around the religion. He made the first letter A, which was the first letter in the word Astvats, or God, and the last letter K', which began the word K'ristos, Christ. He then put the finishing touches on the last 34 letters and his system has been used ever since, aside from the addition of 3 more letters. To honor his work, Armenian architect J. Torosyan created the stone carvings of every letter near Mashtots' final resting place in 2005. Set against the backdrop of Armenia's Mt. Aragats, the letters and a statue of Mashtots pay tribute to the complex and unique language, a national point of pride of Armenia.
Aragats is the highest mount in Armenia and the forth in the territory of Armenian Highlands. It is also the highest point of Transcaucasia. Aragats is extinct volcano, which can be seen from city of Yerevan and Shirak, Kotayk and Aragatsotn provinces. It consists of 4 peaks, the highest of which is Northern (4090m), and the lowest – Southern (3879m) – that is of our concern.
Overnight: Yerevan
Day - 4: -
Jermuk Spa City- Waterfall (360 km, 8-9 hrs)
Jermuk is a leading Armenian spa city, which annually hosts not only a huge number of tourists but also a myriad of people from all over the world who go there for health and treatment purposes.
Jermuk waterfall that falls from a height of 70 meters into the gorge of Arpa River is a true miracle of Armenian Highlands. It reminds of hair flowing freely and therefore locals call it “Mermaid’s hair.”
Since Jermuk is primarily a spa town and sanatorium, the first thing people usually do is getting treated and taking mineral water baths. But that's not all, as Jermuk offers activities for people loving active rest as well. One of them is taking a ride on the ropeway. The ropeway meets international standards. It takes you up one of the mountains where visitors are invited not only to enjoy the wonderful view but also ride a horse or have some drink in the cafe up the mountain. Another thing to do is to ski or ride on a snowmobile! Those who love sledges can take advantage of the special playground built on the mountain.
